Job Summary
The Underwriting Intern will work closely with the Underwriter and Specialist to receive structured training, coaching, and technical guidance.
The internship provides exposure to underwriting operations including policy wording development, product enhancement, pricing alignment, loss ratio monitoring, and technical stakeholder support within a regulated short-term insurance environment.

- BCom in Business Management, Risk Management, or Insurance
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment
- Increase capacity and technical knowledge of the organisation’s underwriting business
- Develop competencies to support underwriting needs as required
Underwriting Management
- Participate in reviewing product terms and conditions
- Assist in reviewing regulations and policy wordings to ensure relevance and consistency
- Monitor loss ratio movement per class of business
- Monitor and report on multi-claimants
- Assist in handling stakeholder email queries
- Participate in research for potential new products and enhancements to existing products
- Contribute to reviewing product information on the website to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Engage in professional development initiatives and share knowledge where applicable
Risk Management
- Contribute to identifying emerging underwriting risks
- Assist in establishing and evaluating controls to mitigate underwriting risk
Training and Development
