The Funda Wande is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Finance Manager to join its Finance Department on a permanent basis. The position is based in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation and supporting the Head of Finance and Operations in maintaining the financial health of the organisation.

Purpose of the Role
The Finance Manager will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance processes related to the organisation’s operational activities.
The role requires collaboration with operational teams, Shared Services, and Group Finance to optimise financial performance, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Support
- Manage the monthly expense forecasting process across all organisational functions
- Provide finance system training to new team members
- Serve as Systems Administrator for Finance platforms including Sage300, BPM, and Business Online
- Act as the Finance representative for Funda Wande within the Group structure
- Partner with operational teams to ensure adherence to approved budgets
- Serve as the primary finance contact for all internal departments
Reporting
- Lead the month-end close process with the Finance Shared Services team
- Review monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Prepare and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and adjustments
- Provide analytical reports on financial performance
- Present monthly financial results to budget holders
- Compile and submit financial reports to EXCO, Board members, and stakeholders
- Prepare financial reports for funders
Audits
- Manage the annual audit process
- Review statements of audit differences
- Prepare agreed audit adjustments
Budgeting
- Coordinate with Operations in planning and executing the annual budget process
- Oversee compilation of the annual organisational budget
- Monitor compliance with approved budgets
- Investigate cost reduction opportunities
- Develop systems to monitor planning and operational efficiencies
- Review monthly budget versus actual expenditure with budget holders
Shared Services
- Review financial statements and reports prepared by the Shared Services team
- Ensure invoices are processed and paid within agreed service level timelines
- Manage finance-related escalations
- Review and approve annual cost allocations
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements
Board Reporting and Tax
- Prepare Board reports for review
- Prepare Section 18A certificates for donors
- Ensure all SARS returns are submitted within required deadlines
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ relevant finance experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior finance role
- Proven experience in financial management or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
Professional qualifications such as CA(SA) or ACCA will be considered advantageous.
