Application Procedures and Requirements

Applicants must strictly comply with the following instructions:

Required Documents

  • A completed and signed new Z83 Form
  • An updated comprehensive CV (including detailed work experience, where applicable)

No other documents are required at the initial application stage.

Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other supporting documents on or before the interview date, as communicated by Human Resources.

Important Submission Guidelines

  • Applications must be submitted in PDF format as a single combined document (Z83 + CV).
  • The email subject line must clearly indicate the correct job title and reference number.
  • Applications submitted using the old Z83 form will not be considered.
  • Each advertised post requires a separate, fully completed, initialled and signed Z83 form.
  • Failure to complete, initial and sign the Z83 form correctly will result in disqualification.

Completion of the Z83 Form

  • Sections A, B, C and D must be completed in full.
  • For Sections E, F and G, applicants may indicate “Refer to CV” where space is limited.
  • The question under Part F relating to conditions preventing re-appointment must be answered.
  • The declaration must be signed.

The Z83 form is obtainable from any Public Service Department or online at www.gov.za/documents.

Additional Requirements

  • Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation report (only when shortlisted).
  • Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only.

Assessment and Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be required to:

  • Complete a practical exercise to assess technical and generic competencies.
  • Undergo an ethical conduct test.
  • Be subjected to personnel suitability checks, including:
    • Criminal record checks
    • Citizenship verification
    • Credit record checks
    • Qualification verification
    • Employment verification

Candidates shortlisted for Senior Management Service (SMS) positions may undergo a two-day competency assessment.

Appointment Conditions

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Sign a performance agreement
  • Sign an employment contract
  • Submit annual financial disclosures
  • Obtain appropriate security clearance

The Department reserves the right not to make an appointment.
