Purpose of the Role

The Boilermaker Apprenticeship programme is designed to provide structured workplace experiential learning to prospective artisans.

The programme combines trade theory with practical workplace exposure to develop competent, qualified artisans who can contribute effectively to the company’s maintenance and operational requirements.

Key Performance Areas

Apprentices will be required to:

  • Shadow experienced artisans to gain hands-on exposure.
  • Perform logbook tasks under supervision.
  • Submit weekly task log sheets for assessment.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned work areas.
  • Adhere strictly to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Carry out all trade-specific NCP activities.
  • Fulfil SHERQ responsibilities (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality).

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Planning and organising ability.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Experience

No prior work experience is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science or N3 Engineering Science, plus a trade-related theory subject.
  • Completed Boilermaker-specific institutional training at an accredited training centre or college (requiring workplace training only).

Personal Requirements

  • Must be medically fit and able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the company’s medical centre.
  • Applications are open to family members of permanent employees, provided minimum requirements are met.
